Who We Are

IPtR members are senior management and executives of the Southern African Metallurgical scene. Most having long histories of involvement with the major mining groups of South Africa in the development, operation, commissioning and optimisation of the processing facilities.

The main members of IPtR left the corporate environment over the last decade or so. They have since focussed on due diligences, audits, managed studies, performed market analyses and consulted across a wide range of mineral and metal commodities.

In this time, with exposure to most of the consulting companies operating in South Africa, it has become increasingly evident that operational experience, commissioning experience and plant optimization & efficiency improvement skills and knowledge are not readily available. As owners or commissioners of studies, less experience was available from the study engineers than expected. With the result that the “owners” had far more input than had pre-2010 been the case.
With that situation in mind, the opportunity was identified for IPtR to supply that experience to supplement the engineering company’s capacities and to offer it to the operational mines directly as well.

IPtR has the following process professionals available with their respective bios’s:

Kobus La Grange

Managing Director

Kobus has 34 years of experience in the Southern African steel and mining industries, is a Metallurgist by profession and is a founding shareholder of ABT established in 2012 as a subsidiary of IPtR.

Frank Stevenson

Director

Frank has over 40 years of experience in all levels of mine and group survey responsibilities, through technical services, project management, consulting, project evaluation and analysis.

Johan Schoeman

Concentrating & Smelting Specialist

Johan is a metallurgist with over 35 years work experience with JCI/Amplats/Anglo Platinum. Johan has exposure in Gold, Uranium, Chrome and PGMs commodities.

Wayne Venter

Smelting and Refining Specialist

Wayne is an accomplished senior mining executive that has worked in various parts of Africa as well as Australia. His experience over 25 years in varying jurisdictions and commodities has enabled him to gain a wide reference field from which to draw.

Robert Herwig

Concentrating and Refining Specialist

Robert Herwig is a seasoned Metallurgical Engineer with over 25 years mineral processing, operational and managerial experience in concentrating and refining plants.
